Mefita and teffClosely involved in the cultivation of teffMefita is very closely involved in the cultivation of teff, an approach which offers the company's customers certainty, as well as guarantees of consistent quality and reliability of deliveries of large quantities. This also enables us to guarantee that teff is cultivated in a natural manner, without the use of additives. Teff is always processed in wholemeal formTeff grains are about 150th the size of wheat grains and, consequently, are not dehusked but processed as wholemeal grain. This is in part the reason why teff is so rich in carbohydrates, fibre, minerals and vitamins - and why it distinguishes itself from other grains primarily by virtue of its high mineral content, low phytic acid content, many slowly-digestible carbohydrates, gluten-free nature and GMO-free production. From ground teff to puffed teffThe range of applications is enormous. Ground teff is, for example, used in gluten-free bread and/or pastry goods. Extruded teff in the form of flakes and crisps is a healthy additive to dairy products. Roller-dried teff added to baby and infant foods greatly increases the nutritional value. Puffed teff is ideal for use in products such as muesli bars: and steamed, crushed teff is an excellent ingredient in bakery products.
